Harvard Square Eye Care, PC is a 50 year-old mainstay Optometrist in Harvard Square and boast’s the home to local celebrities associated with Harvard and the larger Boston area. As the next generation of family owners took the helm, it was expanded to include a Davis Square location and most recently a Belmont Street location in Cambridge.

Dr. Lauren Dickerman, O.D.

Dr. Lauren Dickerman graduated from New England College of Optometry Boston, May 2000. Dr. Dickerman received a Masters in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University in 1992 and her Bachelors degree from University of Massachusetts, Amherst in Biochemistry and Political Science in 1989.

During her education she worked in several Veterans Hospitals including the VA Boston, Brockton, and New Hampshire Veterans Hospital. She also worked for Dr. Donald Korb, renowned contact lens snacialist in addition to Opthalmic Consultants of Boston. After completing her education, Dr. Dickerman worked for several years in local Optometry and Ophthalmology practices.

In September 2002, Dr. Dickerman became the owner of Harvard Square Eye Care, Cambridge. Dr. Dickerman went on to open the Davis Square location in 2007, Central Square location in 2011, and then the Belmont location in 2015. Her first priority is patient care but is also head of Business Development and Direction, Employee Mentoring, and Human Resources.

Dr. Dickerman is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrist and American Optometric Association. Dr. Dickerman is an active member of Youth on Fire in Cambridge and Y2Y Youth Homeless Shelter in Cambridge providing free eye exams. She is also a Member of Flying Doctors providing eye care in Peru.

Dr. Florence Lee, OD

Dr Lee was born and raised in the heart of Silicon Valley, California. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at the University of California, San Diego. She subsequently went on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in 2016.

Throughout her four years in Optometry school, Dr. Lee has gained experience in various clinical settings, earning clinical honors upon graduation. She has a vast understanding of community health, having interned at Joseph Smith Community Health Center (now Charles River Community Health), Martha Eliot Health Center, and the South End Community Health Center. She also interned at the New England Eye Institute, now known as the New England College of Optometry Center for Eye Care, focusing her time spent on contact lens training, pediatrics, and low vision. She has extensive experience in primary and geriatric eye care, interning at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in White River Junction, Vermont, and at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. She has also spent time focused on pediatric optometry at the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, particularly enjoying her time there.

While still an Optometry student, Dr. Lee was selected as one of 3 optometry students to visit Aalen, Germany on a short exchange program to learn more about the ophthalmic aspects of optometry.

During her second year in the New England College of Optometry, Dr. Lee was one of 14 students in the greater Boston area chosen for the prestigious Albert Schweitzer Fellowship. As an Albert Schweitzer Fellow, Dr. Lee worked diligently to provide complete eye exams for school children of an underserved Boston neighborhood, who had failed their vision screenings.

In her spare time, Dr. Lee enjoys exercising, sewing, and exploring the many neighborhoods and communities that Cambridge and Boston have to offer.

Dr. Amy Rayla, O.D.

Dr. Amy Rayla is originally from Harvard, Massachusetts. She graduated in 2008 from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.

Dr. Rayla discovered a passion for optometry while volunteering with a local medical mission and went on to receive a doctorate from the New England College of Optometry in 2015. She has completed internships in the Pediatric Ophthamology department at Tufts Medical Center in Boston as well as the East Boston community health center, Lahey Clinic and the Department of Veterans Affairs in Worcester, MA.
