Harvard Square Eye Care, PC is a 50 year-old mainstay Optometrist in Harvard Square and boast’s the home to local celebrities associated with Harvard and the larger Boston area. As the next generation of family owners took the helm, it was expanded to include a Davis Square location and most recently a Belmont Street location in Cambridge.
Dr. Lauren Dickerman, O.D.
Dr. Lauren Dickerman graduated from New England College of Optometry Boston, May 2000. Dr. Dickerman received a Masters in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University in 1992 and her Bachelors degree from University of Massachusetts, Amherst in Biochemistry and Political Science in 1989.
During her education she worked in several Veterans Hospitals including the VA Boston, Brockton, and New Hampshire Veterans Hospital. She also worked for Dr. Donald Korb, renowned contact lens snacialist in addition to Opthalmic Consultants of Boston. After completing her education, Dr. Dickerman worked for several years in local Optometry and Ophthalmology practices.
In September 2002, Dr. Dickerman became the owner of Harvard Square Eye Care, Cambridge. Dr. Dickerman went on to open the Davis Square location in 2007, Central Square location in 2011, and then the Belmont location in 2015. Her first priority is patient care but is also head of Business Development and Direction, Employee Mentoring, and Human Resources.
Dr. Dickerman is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrist and American Optometric Association. Dr. Dickerman is an active member of Youth on Fire in Cambridge and Y2Y Youth Homeless Shelter in Cambridge providing free eye exams. She is also a Member of Flying Doctors providing eye care in Peru.
Dr. Nisha Patel, O.D.
Dr. Nisha Patel, is originally from sunny Tampa, Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida in 2010. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Business Administration. In late August 2010, Dr. Patel ventured to Boston, Massachusetts to continue her education at the four year Optometry program at the New England College of Optometry located in the Back Bay of Boston.
Throughout the four years, she received vigorous clinical training, and optometric education to provide excellent eye care to the community. She has gained clinical skills through diverse externships throughout the country.
Her clinical experience includes: Dimock Community Health Center, the Ophthalmology Department at University of Maryland, the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Jamaica Plain, Capital Eye Consultants in Fairfax, Virginia, and New England Eye Institute.
In addition to perfecting her skills of providing comprehensive eye examinations, Dr. Patel has also had advanced training in fitting specialty contact lenses through an advanced contact lens course at the New England College of Optometry.
She joined Harvard Square Eye Care in August of 2014 where she enjoys providing exceptional eye care to the community of Cambridge.
Dr. Jane Lam, O.D.
Dr. Jane Lam grew up and attended school in Boston. She graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry at The New England College of Optometry in 2014.
During the course of her optometric training she interned at New England Eye Institute, Boston MA, focused in pediatric eye care and contact lens training. Dr. Lam had extensive training in geriatric eye care at the Edith Nourse Roger Memorial Veterans Hospital, Bedford, MA and at Brockton Veterans Hospital. She interned at the Massachusetts Association for the Blind, Worcester MA, provided low vision eye care, also at the Dorchester House Community Health Center during her final year of internship.
Dr. Lam provides comprehensive eye care for all ages as well as pre and post-operative care of laser vision correction. She had extensive contact lens training in fitting of soft, rigid gas permeable and specialty contact lenses. She is also trained in diagnoses and management of ocular diseases including Cataract, Glaucoma, Diabetic and Hypertensive retinopathy. She enjoys providing pediatric eye care and low vision exams. She is a member of American Optometric Association and Massachusetts Society of Optometrists.
Prior to her optometric career, Dr. Lam had worked as a research chemist for several years. She has an interest in science and technology development.
Outside of work, she enjoys being outdoors. Running, swimming and biking are some of her favorite activities.
